Vis is the only place on the island which has a daily ferry and catamaran connection to the city of Split. Vis is a good choice for those who are arriving without a car, because all the necessary facilities at your fingertips. The city has retained its Mediterranean charm and a life without stress and traffic jams. The towns pebble beach is about a hundred meters from the town center of Vis. There are sandy and pebble beaches close to the town (Parja, Rogacic, Mall Svitnja, Vela Svitnja). The city development is seen through the numerous archaeological remains that you can visit such as the church of St. George-patron of Vis, the ruins of the city surrounded by walls, cemetary Martvilo  and Wallachia field, ruins of a Roman theater which was built in the Franciscan monastery and many others. In this city active tourists as well as families with small children can find something for themselves. While you're in Vis be sure to visit the cities of Split and Trogir.

Split is one of the most visited tourist destinations on the Adriatic coast and is the second largest city in Croatia. This is an eternally young city which lives in a slow rhythm which is very easy  to get used to. In Split you can visit various historical monuments such as Diocletian’s palace – the heart of the city, the Iron Gate, statue of Gregory of Nin, St. Duje cathedral, church of St. Francis, St. Peter’s cathedral, peristyle and the St. Anthony monastery.

Trogir is a city located in the center of Dalmatia. Its port is a favored destination among seafarers because of its good location and natural protection. It is famous for its various historical monuments which is why it has the nickname of “museum city.” Of its cultural monuments we recommend you view the following: old city center, Kamerlengo fortress, St. Mark’s tower, sculpture of the Blessed John Orsinij, St. Geronimo’s chapel, renaissance church of St. John the Baptist, portal of Radovan, museum and pinacotheca.

Shops were very reasonably prices as was the beer in the bars. Wine is very expensive and the food in restaurants is pricy. However, the atmosphere and scenery is a joy to behold. It was the hottest week on record when we were there and stopped us doing trips as pensioners, but we would have participated more if it had been cooler. For tourists, the ferry times are not helpful, so plan to attached time to your holiday in Split.

Excellent island for sailing or just relaxing
Great and safe island full of various activities from sailing, hiking, scuba dicing to just enjoying the local fare and surroundings. Easy to navigate on foot and if you have access to a car, great places to visit outside the main villages of Vis and Komiza.
