Explore island Pag

The island of Pag is one of the largest islands of the Adriatic. With the surface of 285km2 it is the fifth largest island in the Adriatic, as well as the island with the most indented coast (270km). there are about 20 settlements on the island, some of which are: Novalja, Povljana, Stara Novalja, Potocnica, Kolan and Miskovici. The vegetation of this island is especially interesting – there is not a single tree on the island which is why it is often compared to the Moon’s surface. It is also known for numerous drinking water sources, which come below the sea bottom from the Velebit slope. Some of the largest rocks are located on Pag – the island is cut with drywalls overgrown in low bushes. The population of the island is engaged in viticulture, cattle breeding, olive growing, fishing and, more recently tourism.

The center of the island of Pag is the eponymous town which is the most important cultural and historical place on the island. The town of Pag has an excellent tourist offer. Younger population can have fun in numerous bars, restaurants, nightclubs and different sports activities. History lovers can see countless cultural monuments such as the town walls, Katine bridge, salt tanks, Kamerlengo fortress, St. Margarita convent, church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Nikola church, prince’s court, Gradac viewpoint and numerous other.

Another famous tourist destination is the town of Novalja, located on the north-western part of the island. Beautiful beaches, numerous restaurants, taverns and all night entertainment are some of the characteristics of this island. One of the most famous beaches on the Adriatic is located in Novalja – Zrce beach. This beach welcomes countless world-known DJs. There is a number of discotheques and bars on the beach, such as Aquarius, Calypso, Papaya in which the entertainment lasts all day and night.

The island of Pag is connected to the mainland with the Pag bridge so you can reach it with your personal car, or by ferry. Ferry lines are frequent, but very crowded during the season, so you could wait for a while.
