Kaldanija

Tourist destination info Kaldanija

Bibinje is a small place located on the north of Dalmatia, in the approximate vicinity of one of the most popular and famous centers on the Adriatic – Zadar. The name of this place is mentioned in the middle of the 11th century (Bibano, more precisely Bibanum). The population has been involved in agriculture, cattle breeding and fishing, and from the beginning of the 20th century, tourism. This small place is rich with historical monuments which testify to its past, seeing how there are no written records of the foundation of the town.
Visit the All saints church (located at the foot of the Sasavca hill, built in 1995), church of the Birth of St. John the Baptist (built at the beginning of the 16th century, entirely restored in 1995), St Roko church(the trademark and the heart of Bibinje, built in the 16th century and located on the southern end of the peninsula), the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (built in 1985), hurch of Martyrdom of the St. John the Baptist (romantic church built by the Benedictines of the Rogovo abbey from Biograd in the 12th century), ethnography museum, as well as many other historical monuments.
One of the largest Croatian marinas is situated in Bibinje – Marina Dalmatia. It is easily accessed by sea or land and contains 1200 sea berths, as well as 500 land berths. It was equipped according to the international standards and enables access to boats up to 55m long.
While staying at Bibinje, be sure to visit numerous Croatian natural beauties. There are 4 national parks in the surroundings (Krka, Paklenica, Kornati and Plitvice lakes) and 2 nature parks (Vransko lake and Telascica). Like any other Dalmatian place, Bibinje hosts numerous festivities over the summer. Some of those festivities are: A manifestation of folklore and the habits of the Zadar and Bibinje area (takes place at the end of July or at the beginning of August), Singing Bibinje – Dalmatian folk singers gathering (cultural manifestation with the longest tradition, takes place at the beginning of August), the Bibinje festivity of St. Roko (Croatian flag is placed in the shallow waters of the Jaz cove exactly at midnight on August 15, the national anthem is sung and a big firework begins) as well as the festivity “Greetings to summer (guests can enjoy  wine, fish, fritters and “krostule” in one of the summer taverns). Sports and active vacation fans can enjoy diving, cycling, running, football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, sailing and numerous other sea and land activities. If you would like to savor the specialties of this region, visit the tavern “U Ribara”.

It is one of the most popular Croatian tourist destinations, named as the “entertainment center on the Adriatic” by the London Times, and the “new cool capital” by the Guardian. Pasman island is located in the Zadar archipelago, separated from land by the Pasman canal which is home to several small, picturesque islands. Pasman has several places of interest with various historical monuments such as the following: stone statue of St. Michael, Benedictine monastery of St. Kuzma and Damian, Franciscan monastery of St. Dujam, church of St. Luke, church of St. Kuzma, remains of the church of St. Martin, Franciscan monastery with church and many others. The island inhabitants are mainly fishermen, farmers, wine growers and, in more recent times, touristic workers. Because of the Mediterranean climate, there is a rich culture of flora and fauna.
Dugi otok is the largest island in the group of northern Dalmatian islands. The pride of the island is the lighthouse located on the northwestern side, as well as the nature park Telaščica which is characterized by three phenomena: the Telaščica bay, “Stene” cliff and salt lake “Mir.”
