      Malinska - shhh it''s a secret!
Malinska is a short 15 minute drive from the small airport Rejikca. The town retains an air of "village", by which I mean that it is largely walkable from end to end, with lots of little hidden gems awaiting discovery. Yes, the prime activity seems to be tourism, but it is not over-bearing and retains huge character. Definitely not overdone, has enough for all needs, but lots of character. Plenty to do, with lots of water activities on offer. We took a day boat trip, which exposed us to other nice places in the vicinity. The people are friendly and welcoming, and we especially enjoyed our apartment Vesna Iskra. Such a large number of great beaches to use in Malinska. Best from our perspective is Paradasz beach, which has trees and shelter from the scorching sun, with plenty little coves and spots to enjoy. Can be tricky negotiating your way into the ocean, as is rocky. The best restaurant from our point of view is Mateo pizza. Great food great view. But there are plenty of really good eateries all about. Brilliant too are the bakery goodies. AHH, the gelato ice creams! And great local wine and beers. Use of card is easy, but you will require cash for a lot of the small things, but there are plenty of bank ATM machines around. Just draw some on arrival at the airport for the taxi! There is a great little road train to get about on, which runs between Malinska and the next town along. Cost is 50 Kuna for return trip, feels like getting on a funfair ride. Or simply call a taxi.
