Nin is a small town, the core of which is located on a small island (approximately 500m) connected with the land with two bridges. The town is only 15 km away from the famous tourist destination – Zadar. This is the oldest Croatian royal town, marked by its rough past to which testify numerous historical-cultural monuments. The area of the today’s town of Nin has been inhabited from the prehistoric times; the first known inhabitants were the Illyrians while the Croatian people came to the region in the 7th century. Visit the St. Cross church (the smallest cathedral in the world), St. Jakov church, St. Anselmo cathedral, the remains of the largest roman temple on the east coast of the Adriatic sea, duke Branimir monument, the town Lower gates and the stone bridge, Kraljevac square with the fountain, coronation church of St. Nikola (monument heritage which testifies about the great power of the Croatian sea rulers; 7 Croatian kings have been crowned here), the statue of Gregory of Nin (the most significant bishop of old Nin, today it’s bronze statue is located in the town of Nin, near the St. Anselmo church) as well as numerous other historical sites. Besides the historical monuments, Nin is also known for its beautiful bay with sandy beaches and a rich offer of fun possibilities. Like any other Dalmatian town, Nin organizes numerous manifestations, as well. The most famous are the Our Lady of Zecevo festivity and the Sokoliada (gastronomical manifestation)). Sports and active vacation fans can enjoy basketball, football, beach volleyball, handball, tennis, paintball, Nordic walking, diving, sea kayaking and various water sports. If you would like to savor the specialties of the region, visit the restaurant “Kruske I Jabuke” and the tavern “Branimir”.

Zadar is a city with an extraordinary history and extremely valuable cultural heritage, located in the heart of the Adriatic. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country and is said to be a real treasury of archaeological and monumental treasure of all periods. It is most known for the following historical monuments: Church of the Holy Ghost, Cathedral of St. Stošije, St. Šime church, St. Mary’s church and monastery, St. Frane church and monastery, city walls, fortresses and gates, church of St Krševan and many others. The city attracts more and more tourists each year due to its various attractions. Get acquainted with the sea organ, the solar circle, National Square, Five Wells Square, the city’s silver and gold, Forum, Ancient Glass Museum and Kalelarga.
Sea organ (first in the world) – is a combination of human ideas and skills with the energy of the sea, waves, tides. It is a great place where you can contemplate, or even talk with the uninterrupted concert of the mystical tones of the “Natural orchestra”.

Island of Pasman is an island in the Zadar archipelago, separated from the mainland by the Pasman canal which contains a few picturesque islands. You can visit numerous historical sites on the island, such as the stone statue of St. Mihovil, Benedict convent of St. Kuzma and Damjan, Franciscan convent of St. Dujam, church of St. Luka, ruins of the St. Martin church and countless other. A rich world of flora and fauna has developed on the island because of the Mediterranean climate. You can find different species of medical and fragrant plants, while the underwater contains all types of shells and fish of the Croatian Adriatic.

Dugi Otok is the largest island in the north-Dalmatian group of islands. The lighthouse located on the north-west side is the pride of the island, as well as the Telascica nature park on the south-east. The Telascica nature park is characterized by three phenomena: Telascica bay, Long island slope “Stene” and salty lake “Mir”. You can visit the Franciscan convent, St. Mihovil church, St. Mary church, Sr. Roko church, St. Nikola church, St. Krsevan convent, Mary’s sanctuary, St. Nikola chapel and countless other historical monuments.

      Traumhafte Strände und wunderschöne Altstadt
      Nin hat viele wunderschöne, saubere Sandstrände für jeden Geschmack. Von Action (surfen, Kiten, Jetski, Wasserhüpfburg, Tretboot) bis entspannt und ruhig ist alles vorhanden. In der Nähe gibt es auch 2 Hundestrände über die sich unsere Labbi-Hündin sehr gefreut hat. An den Stränden gab es kleine gemütliche Beach Bars und saubere WCs. Eine Kombination aus 2 Liegen und einem riesigen Sonnenschirm zum Mieten kostete gerade mal 20 Euro für den ganzen Tag. Sogar ein kleiner Safe für Wertsachen war im Preis inbegriffen. Es gab zahlreiche Lokale in der Altstadt und auch außerhalb, die allesamt immer gut gefüllt waren. Die Altstadt von Nin ist absolut sehenswert, wunderschön und geschichtlich sehr interessant. Meine Empfehlung: früh aufstehen und das Städtchen vorm Ansturm der Touristen besichtigen.
