Tourist destination info Slatine (Ciovo)

Slatine is a small tourist place located on a beautiful island of Ciovo, connected to the town of Trogir by a bridge. Besides tourism, the population is involved in fishing and agriculture, as well.  Slatine has a well-indented coast with countless coves, cliffs, pebble and stone beaches. While staying at Slatine, do not miss to visit Trogir and its cultural monuments which testify about its turbulent past. Split is located only 8km from Podstrana. It is the second largest town in Croatia and one of the most popular and most visited tourist destinations on the Adriatic . Split is an eternally young town which lives at a slow pace to which it is easy to accustom.. It is rich with historical cultural sites, such as: the Diocletian’s palace – the heart of Split, Iron gate, statue of Gregory of Nin, St.Duje cathedral, St. Frane cathedral, St. Petar concathedral, Peristil, St. Ante convent and numerous others.

Omiš is a small Mediterranean town located at the mouth of the river Cetina. Of its historical characteristics, we emphasize the following: the fortresses Mirabela and Fortica, parish church of St. Michael, Franciscan monastery, churches of St. Peter, Holy Spirit, the Illyrian seminary, old cemetery, medieval town center, pole of shame and the old town lodge. Sports fans can take part in river rafting on the Cetina, free climbing, wind surfing, swimming marathon, beach volleyball and other activities.

Trogir, or as many call it – “museum town” is located in the center of Dalmatia. Its harbor is a favorite destination for boaters because of good position and natural protection. The town is famous for its numerous historical monuments, some of which are: old town core, fort Kamerlengo, St. Marko fortress, sculpture of the Blessed Ivan Orsini, St. Jeronim chappel, Cipico palace, renaissance church of St. John the Baptist, the portal of Radovan, museum...

Small town in a great location
This was our first time to Croatia and Slatine was our first base in a small tour of the area. We got the taxi from the airport as it was much quicker than getting a shuttle to ferry port and then ferry to Slatine. The resort as a few lovely restaurants and a long, white pebbly beach with a few beach bars. It''s a great family place, seemed extremely safe, and the people are friendly. Slatine is great because you have a ferry service to Split and to Trogir (both worth visiting and spending time in). From Split you can go anywhere, and there are lots more buses from Trogir also. Except for the beach there isn''t a lot to do in Slatine so it makes for a very relaxing holiday destination. We hired quad bikes from a company in Zedno (the bus goes there, or the company may even pick you up and drop you off if they aren''t too busy) and that was a brilliant and fun way to see more of the island. There are also lots of lovely walks and cycle (if you''re fit) trails nearby.
