Srima (Vodice)

Tourist destination info Srima (Vodice)

Srima is a small picturesque coastal town on the Šibenik Riviera, connected to Vodice. Tourism in Srima began to develop rapidly about twenty years ago with the building of high-quality accommodation units in private homes. There are several archeological sites from the Early Christian period (6th century), while the town itself was first mentioned at the beginning of 16th century. Srima attracts guests who appreciate vacationing in a typical small Dalmatian town with beautiful sandy and clean beaches. Srima is located only 3 km from Vodice which has become one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Adriatic. Vodice are a recipient of  "The flower of tourism"  awarded to destinations with especially attractive tourism offer. Visit the church of St. Elijah the Prophet (a small church which stands as a testament of an extinct village and life in the fields), the parish church of St. Cross with a bell tower (the Baroque church was built on the foundations of an even older church), Čorić tower (built from stone brought from the island of Brac and since it was built during turbulent times it features a high boundary wall) and many other attractions.

The best known beaches in Vodice are the sandy beach “Blue Beach” which has a smaller surface area and has been awarded a blue flag for its cleanliness and the “Hangar" beach which stretches for several kilometers. It is rich with various sports activities, restaurants, cafes, fast foods, pastry shops and healthy food stores. This is where the famous bar “Huka” is located which entertains its guests during the day and the nighttime. Vodica is also the home of “Hacienda,” one of the most famous night clubs on the Adriatic where you can entertain yourself every night until the morning hours. If you would like to taste the culinary specialties of this region, you can visit the various restaurants in Vodice, of which we recommend the following: “Arausa”, “Roki”, “Makina”, “Rico”, “Dalmacija”. If you have a taste for spicier food you can visit the Mexican restaurant “Santa Maria”. If you are looking for a peaceful place of vacation away from hotels and noisy towns, we recommend the apartments, rooms and vacation homes in Srima. While there, do not miss the opportunity to visit larger tourist destinations such as Šibenik, Primošten, Trogir and Split.

Must-see places:

Šibenik is the oldest self settled city on the Adriatic and is located at the mouth of the river Krka. It is well known for its turbulent past which is evident in its various historical monuments of which we recommend you visit the fortresses of St. Michael, St. Nicholas, St. John and Šubičevac, the Cathedral of St. Jacob, St. Francis church, St. Dominic’s church, Four Wells and others. If you would like to learn a little more about this city’s history, we recommend you visit the Šibenik City Museum, AG Gallery, St. Krševan Gallery, Madrigal. During the summertime, Šibenik hosts various festivals such as the International Children’s Festival, Šibenik Evening, Evenings of Dalmatian Chansons, Organ Summer School and Šibenik Cultural Summer.

Primošten is an island town, surrounded by seven smaller islands. It is a typical Mediterranean town which is best seen in its small streets and small stone houses in the center of the old town. Those who enjoy sports may take part in playing tennis, table tennis, parasailing, jet-ski riding, beach volleyball, mini golf and many other activities. It is home to two beautiful small churches: the church of St. George, built in 1485, and the church of St. Rocco, built in 1680.

Trogir, or “museum city” as it is often called, is located in the center of Dalmatia. Its port is the preferred destination for seafarers because of its favorable position and natural protection. It is famous for its various cultural monuments some of which are: old city center, Kamerlengo fortress, St. Mark’s tower, sculpture of the Blessed Ivan Orsinij, St. Jeronimo chapel, Ćipiko palace, Renaissance church of St. John the Baptist, the portal of Radovan, museum and pinothecary.

Split is one of the best known and most visited tourist destinations in Croatia and the second largest city in the country.  It is an eternally young city which lives with a slow pace that is very easy to get accustomed to. Emperor Diocletian’s city is rich with historical monuments of which we recommend the following: Diocletian’s palace (the heart of the city), the Iron Gate, the statue of bishop Gregory of Nin, the cathedral of St. Duje, church of St. Francis, cathedral of St. Peter, the main court, city basement, St. Anne’s monastery.
